During a fishing trip in the North Sea, elderly Jean Broucke is knocked overboard; he almost drowns and falls into a coma. His oldest son Jean witnessed the scene and now the family affairs and a huge debt rest on his shoulders. Plus, with the father’s absence, old unresolved conflicts resurface between Jean and his two brothers, Francis and William. Francis doesn’t know whether to remain and help his family or run away in pursuit of a secret love; William returns home, escaping from a criminal past and in search of redemption. Jean turns to William and his knowledge of the criminal world in a desperate attempt to ensure a future for his eight-year-old son.

Gilles Coulier
Gilles Coulier (Belgium, 1986), director, screenwriter and producer, studied audiovisual arts at the Sint-Lukas Brussels University of Art and Design. At the same time, he worked in publicity and musicals and debuted in 2010 behind the movie camera with the short film Isjland, presented at Cannes; the film was followed by Paroles (2013) and Mont Blanc (2013). In 2015, he produced and directed the TV series Bevegem and then debuted in feature film with Cargo. He founded the production company De Wereldvrede and at the moment is directing the TV series De Dag and developing the first episodes of another series, The Year of the Tiger.
