Carmit Harash
Carmit Harash (Israel) graduated from the Jerusalem Film School and in 2000 moved to France, where she currently lives. Film de guerre (2007), Demain (2010) and Trêve form a trilogy about the addictive connection between Israelis and war. The three films were presented at the Torino Film Festival. Her recent work of three feature films explores the fractured French society and its political relations with its ethnic minorities. Her film Attaque received the TFFdoc Special Jury Award in 2016. This year she is a member of the TFFdoc jury.

“How to face the trouble of being a visible (or audible) minority in France ? The protagonists of my film are all looking for a political ally, only to finally find themselves again the outsiders of a political game that takes place without them. Carmit-Christelle is an immigrant who became French and is determined to blend into society. Like her, others who were born in France are ironically obliged to blend in… their own homeland. In the midst of the electoral turmoil, rejected by the right and by the left, each one of those people is trying, in his own way, to find his place in this country. […] As we are constantly flooded with contradictory mottos and political statements, any sentence can become a slogan, and ideas that in the past seemed so clear to us are now blurred: who is left wing or right wing ? Who is an ally and who is a political enemy? And finally: who really won the French presidential elections?”
