FAITHFULL

FAITHFULL
by Sandrine Bonnaire
Country: France
Year: 2017
Duration: 61'

When she was seventeen, she was the undisputed queen of Swinging London thanks to the success of her first singles in the United Kingdom’s charts. Then she became Mick Jagger’s girlfriend and muse, inspiring some of the greatest songs he wrote for the Rolling Stones. Followed by her downfall of drugs and alcohol, anorexia, being dumped by Jagger, the scandals, her career reaching a deadlock, her celebrity status eclipsed, and then oblivion… Until her return to the limelight as a singer and actress, and the universal acknowledgement of what she represented (and keeps on representing) for an entire generation. The life of Marianne Faithfull was all that and so much more: a rainbow with iridescent colors too often overshadowed by dark hues, which she reveals in a series of interviews, alternated with archive footage and exclusive interviews with people who stood by her side, revisiting glories and miseries in a disenchanted way, though a tale where the ending leaves room for rebirth.
