In January 2011, Tunisia is convulsed by revolution: even though she lives in Paris, Diane Sara Bouzgarrouz, of Tunisian origin, is deeply distressed. This feeling soon becomes even stronger and more upsetting: the emotional impact of these events is so strong that she falls into a manic-depressive state which is so overwhelming that she loses her memory and has to spend a month in a psychiatric hotel. Five years later, she discovers an entire archive of film clips, recordings, notes and photographs of that period which she thought was lost forever. They are the only elements she has for understanding what happened, inside and around her. It is the point of departure for the reconstruction of a very precise and fundamental moment of her past, and more.

Diane Sara Bouzgarrouz
Diane Sara Bouzgarrouz (Bordeaux, France, 1985), who has a Tunisian father and a French mother, lives and works between Paris and Lille. A multi-disciplinary artist, she is interested in exploring the convergence between personal memories and traumas, and the collective imaginary, as well as the hybridization of film genres and art forms. She has made numerous video installations, with which she has participated at exhibits in galleries and events such as Art/Positions in Marseilles, Galerie G in Paris and The Art Day in Lyon. Je me ne souviens de rien was presented at Cinéma du réel in Paris, where it received a mention for the Prix des jeunes. At present she is collaborating with the French director Thomas Jenkoe to make her first feature-length documentary, The Dark and Bloody Ground.
