Los Angeles has been hit by a massive earthquake which has completely destroyed the city. Almost. The survivors of this apocalypse have set up an improvised TV station, where they give vent to all the brutishness and squalor in their lives: genetic mutations and disease have the upper hand, as have physical and mental deformities. In a setting of pus, unhealed wounds, sores, aberrations and perversions, two young people sing and make weird love; an old woman, who inexplicably speaks Japanese, falls down a hole and into the clutches of a girl and her monstrous baby, who torture the woman; a man with Down syndrome takes care of a gigantic carnivorous plant; a girl watches TV in the company of two hairy monsters which have televisions instead of heads and then goes to a clinic, where she meets a man who is there to be cured: he has some kind of dysfunction which prevents him from looking at women’s breasts. The cure, obviously, will be even worse than the disease.

Steve Ellison
steve (1983), better known as Steven Ellison and, above all, as Flying Lotus, is a producer, musician, DJ and rapper specialized in experimental electronic music; he lives and works in Los Angeles. From 2006 to the present, he has made five albums: 1983, Los Angeles (2008), Cosmogramma (2010), Until the Quiet Comes (2012) and You’re Dead! (2014). He has also collaborated with the TV cartoon channel Adult Swim, producing soundtracks and background music. In 2012, using the pseudonym Captain Murphy, he entered the world of rap, recording the mixtape Duality. Kuso, his directing debut, was presented at the last Sundance Film Festival.
