BORMIDA
by Alberto Momo

A factory pollutes a river and the people go on a protest march to protect their land and their lives. The river continues to flow but the forests have become deserts. The stories of two activists and an agronomist trace pathways in a landscape to be deciphered. A possible map for evoking ghosts.

Declaration

film director

“Bormida is a movie which is to be considered like a landscape. It feeds off archives and creates maps. Like a landscape, it is a sedimentation of different gazes and eras. The place becomes narration, including sensorial and emotional narration. The film owes its genesis to the passionate work of a number of students from Turin’s faculty of architecture. It has been enhanced by the contributions of the photographer Andrea Botto and the sounds of the artist Alessandro Sciaraffa, who arranged the soundtrack. It was colored (in red) by clips from the Corporate Film Archives and frames painted by Paolo Leonardo. It is dedicated to Marina Garbarino (1960-2016) and to all those activists who took part in Italy’s first environmental battle.”
