COLETTE

COLETTE
by Wash Westmoreland
Country: UK
Year: 2018
Duration: 112'

Colette, an unconventional country girl, marries Willy, a charismatic and egotistical academic. Introduced into the fertile and artistic Parisian universe which feeds her creative vein,  Colette, whose husband urges her to write, creates a series of books which are published under Willy’s name. The novels soon become a literary phenomenon and Claudine, their protagonist, becomes an icon of Parisian pop culture and a symbol of women’s liberation.

Declaration

film director

“We wanted to emphasize the story’s modern elements and show the impact of new technologies. Our goal was to make a movie set in the past but which modern audiences can relate to, as though in the present. Thus, the excitement sparked by new inventions and ideas is palpable, as is the sensation that Paris is the center of the world.”
