DOVE BISOGNA STARE

DOVE BISOGNA STARE
by Daniele Gaglianone
Country: Italy
Year: 2018
Duration: 98'

There is a Country depicted as terrorized by migrations, turning violently hostile toward migrants. It is a narrative upon which a certain political class keeps building its identity and electoral fortunes in the face of another part of a political class that seems unable to talk to a scared Country that is becoming increasingly aggressive. But there is also another Country that practices solidarity and fights for people’s rights every day, often in an informal and non-structured way. This film tells the stories of four women: Elena, Georgia, Jessica, and Lorena. They have different ages and live in different places, but they are all engaged in activities that, at a first glance, might seem absurd in light of common sense (or whatever passes as such these days).

Declaration

film director

“This documentary explored a possible response to these dark times. It doesn’t portray immigration from the perspective of those who chose to leave or were forced to do so; this film is, first and foremost, about us and our capacity to confront ourselves with the world and share in its destiny.”
