Shepherdesses are perfectly present-day, they often live alone but also with partners or with their family, and therefore they are fully involved in their social and economic communities. The film follows the director’s experience while living with them for some time, connecting with them deeply. These bonds of friendship and affection have become true narrative, spontaneous and intimate, of the protagonists’ motivations, difficulties and satisfactions.

Anna Kauber
Anna Kauber (Italy) is a director, author, and landscaper; she lives in Parma. She studies and popularizes life and work in the rural world, and deals in particular with social and cultural topics regarding communities. In 2014, she published the book
Le vie dei campi, which received the rural literary prize Parole di Terra. She is interested in the relationship between humans, the land, and food, and has made a number of docufilms, such as Ciclone Basmati (2012), which she shot in Italy and India, about food and immigration (winner of the special Babel Sky TV Award at the 2012 International Migration Art Festival) and the collection of video interviews Ritratti di donna e di terra (2015), which studies and documents the specificities of agricultural products and their transformation. From to 2015 to 2017, she conducted video interviews of female shepherds throughout Italy, which became the starting point of In questo mondo (2018).
