Teenage Saeed and his father Ali live together in New York City but run separate lives. The dysfunctional relationship between the two push them further towards surrogate families – Saeed with his schoolmates and Ali with his girlfriend. As both father and son find themselves in conflict due to petty squabbles and love triangles, the tensions between them finally become inescapable. And the unavoidable eruption occurs. Saeed and Ali (not quite themselves…), and the film director too, are heading for a breakdown, and they are lead on their own paths to repair what has been ruined.

Declaration

film director

“For this film I wanted to explore a rather simple tale – one inspired by my own life mixed with other stories from friends and some good old fashioned make believe – and push the storytelling in a more radical way. I wanted the meltdown of a heated family argument to feel different than what is normally portrayed; to give it that disorienting, confusing quality that has been absent in depictions of it in narrative films.”
