L'ULTIMA NOTTE

THE LAST NIGHT
by Francesco Barozzi
Country: Italy
Year: 2018
Duration: 87'

Bea is a woman in the midst of a personal crisis who is forced to leave the big city and move back to the country house where she was born, and where her brother and sister still live in abject poverty. She takes care of the farmhouse’s animals and garden with her sister Emi, while their brother Franco works at a nearby breeding farm. When Bea invites them to change their lifestyle, she comes into direct conflict with Franco, who is slowly revealed to be quick-tempered and cruel. Bea discovers that her two siblings share the same ambiguous inclinations, and more than one secret. She also finds out that the most dangerous secret of all still lingers around them.

Declaration

film director

“I want to make every single scene memorable […]. The Last Night must have its own personality […]. Aesthetics are fundamental, but trying to keep the tension in the story as high as possible remains the most interesting challenge. Looking too much in the mirror is risky; you have to watch from the eyes of the audience. Before shooting every scene, I would think about what would capture their attention and keep them inside the story.”
