First part of a trilogy of experimental feature films that examine how the shapes of suffering have mutated beyond recognisable and how the junctions where that suffering appears have been mystified. Binary forms of thinking dominate, this blindness is striking, how deeply it penetrates.
Biography

Matti Harju
(Finland, 1978) was educated in film directing at the National Film and Television School, London. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, he learned about contemporary art during his Master’s study. His short films have been shown in a variety of film festivals including Rotterdam, Locarno, London, Edinburgh, Fest Los Angeles and Clermont-Ferrand. In 2008 his short Africa was selected in Onde section in Torino, as well as in 2018 with Nueva era, his first feature debut.

“This film was shot using several consumer level cameras including Nikon Coolpix and iPhone. It features a cast of non-professionals. It’s partly scripted, partly improvised. It’s set in the last days of August, just before the summer ends. Dogs are barking somewhere nearby. Trucks drive by.”
