Roberto Catani

Roberto Catani (Jesi, Ancona, 1965) studied animation and graduated from the Istituto Statale d’Arte Scuola del Libro in Urbino in 1986. He was selected several times for the illustrators’ exhibit at the Children’s Book Fair of Bologna. He created illustrations for the publishers Fatatrac and ZooLibri, and he also collaborated with the magazine “Lo straniero” directed by Goffredo Fofi. His short films La sagra (1998) and La funambola (2002) received awards from some of the most prestigious animation festivals like the ones in Espinho, New York, Zagreb, Annecy, and Hiroshima. In addition, he also created animations for the art installation Ombre dal Lupercale in Rome. La testa tra le nuvole – Absent Minded (2013) received the jury’s grand prize at Animateka and a special distinction at Annecy.
