CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON

CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON
by Jack Arnold
Country: USA
Year: 1954
Duration: 79'

A boating expedition on the Amazon River by a group of paleontologists. A lagoon which has remained untouched since prehistoric times. A girl in a white bathing suit swims on the surface of the water while, unbeknownst to her, a bizarre man-fish swims in harmony below. This is the most famous scene of one of the masterpieces by Jack Arnold, a master of “humanistic” sci-fi, who abandons himself to the sensuality inherent in horror. A melancholy love story about someone who is “different,” the basis of The Shape of Water by Guillermo Del Toro.
