In search of an elixir for eternal life, Dr. Jekyll uses female hormones he obtains from the bodies of recently-deceased young women. One day, he tries the potion out on himself and ends up Mrs Hyde. A bisexual transposition of the novel by Stevenson, captivatingly directed by Roy Baker and with an impeccable screenplay, it combines Jekyll with Jack the Ripper and the body snatchers Burke and Hare. An irresistible synthesis of Victorian goth, in which sensuality and humor mock respectability.
