I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE

A young Canadian nurse goes to the West Indies to care for a rich patient who is crazy and catatonic. There, she meets Damballa, a local spirit guide for voodoo rituals. Made by the duo Lewton-Tourneur, one of the first zombie movies, immersed in Haitian folklore and magic. Captivating and morbid, ancient superstitions vs. medical rationality, a film constructed around spells and the suspension of skepticism which grips all the characters.
