PIT AND THE PENDULUM

PIT AND THE PENDULUM
by Roger Corman
Country: USA
Year: 1961
Duration: 80'

The second movie Corman based on Poe. The king of indie cinema uses the main feature of the story (the Inquisition’s deadly instrument of torture and death) to construct a plot written by Richard Matheson: suspicion, jealousy, and revenge, led by the raving Nicholas Medina as portrayed by Vincent Price (the only actor to show the flashes of Poe’s humor). Barbara Steele, the unscrupulous noblewoman who comes and goes from her tomb, holds her own against him. It cost 200,000 dollars to make and brought in two million dollars.
