UN CONFINE INCERTO

AN UNCERTAIN BORDER
by Isabella Sandri
Country: Italy, Germany
Year: 2019
Duration: 118'

A strange couple lives in a camper parked in the Black Forest: a boy and a girl. A postal policewoman in Rome is investigating a child pornography network. Every day, she catalogues videos she finds on the web: she feels powerless and out of sync as she views crimes without being able to take action. As she analyzes yet another film, she discovers the identity of a girl who had disappeared in South Tyrol. But images travel over the borders, it’s hard to know where they come from. The world of the protagonists, too, flows between different countries and languages.

Declaration

film director

“Over these last years, I have recounted stories of children: the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, the orphans in Afghanistan, the children of workers in Mexico, the survivals of the massacres in Rwanda. And I asked myself: what is one of the worst cruelties which still exists in our era? Perhaps the cruelty of stealing the future of human beings, the power to believe in themselves. To kill their strength but also their ‘tender’ part. To kill the tenderness that human beings carry within themselves: the child.”
