Declaration
film director
"Writing a comedy full of references to the past (Power Rangers, Creepshow, San Ku Kai, Halloween…) with the sole and noble intention of entertaining in these gray times, I didn't expect to find so much substance, nor so much truth… Behind the air of farce and parody, Fumer fait tousser is my closest connection to the real world – and I am the first to be surprised by it. Without any real will, the era we are living in and its most dramatic issues appeared between the dialogues, as if I could no longer pretend to ignore the crisis our planet is going through; as if today it is impossible to make films that do not reflect what humanity is going through. Fortunately, Fumer fait tousser is actually also follows its nature of irrelevant entertainment, without imposing a discourse or a moral. Anyone who wants to forget their worries and just enjoy themselves will probably see nothing but fire. And more precisely, the fire of a cigarette."
