1943: due to Allied bombing raids, a village in southern Italy is abandoned by all of its inhabitants except for the Valguarnera family, composed of two brothers and five unmarried sisters. Actually, the only one who wants to remain is the oldest brother Giacinto, who is convinced that the true, profound meaning of existence is tied to memory. While all the sisters insist on abandoning the village and opening up to a new world, he wants to remain on his land and in the 18th-century house of his ancestors.

Ruggero Cappuccio
(Torre del Greco, Naples, Italy, 1964) Playwright, author, and director. He has staged many of the plays he has written, receiving numerous awards and recognitions. As an author, he has published novels with Feltrinelli, Sellerio, and Einaudi. In film, he has directed various movies for the silver screen and TV, often working in tandem with Nadia Baldi. Since 2016, he has been the artistic director of the Campania Teatro Festival.

Nadia Baldi
(Salerno, Italy, 1966) writes for the theatre, television, and film. She has written and directed various works based on stories and ideas by Ruggero Cappuccio, with whom she founded the company Teatro segreto in 1996. She has also directed numerous documentaries and docufictions for cinemas and TV.
