Giancarlo Soldi

(Bonemerse, Cremona, Italy, 1954) made his directorial debuted in 1979 with the short film Paranaja, followed by No Future (1982), Polsi Sottili (1985), which premiered at the Berlinale Forum, and the documentary Candid Kantor (1986). In 1991, he curated the television program Buzz (co-produced by Italia1 and MTV London). A year later he directed the full-length feature Nero (written by Tiziano Sclavi), and participated to the Venice Film Festival. He went back to television in 1998, directing the series AleX, indagini su mondi segreti. He has always been a fan of comic books, making several documentaries on the world of comics, like Nuvole parlanti, Graphic Reporter, Come Tex nessuno mai, and the documentary mini-series I fumetti e noi. In 2014 his documentary Nessuno siamo perfetti on famous Italian artist and comic book author Tiziano Sclavi was selected at the Torino Film Festival. He then realized other projects which focus on Italia comic book authors, such as Cercando Valentina - Il mondo di Guido Crepax (2019), selected at Venice Days, and Diabolik sono io (2020).
