Starting with a sociological, human, and topographical guidebook, the diary of Enrica Bartesaghi, Genova il posto sbagliato. La Diaz, Bolzaneto il carcere. Diario di una madre, written during and after the trials of the people responsible for the abuse committed at the Diaz school during the G8 summit in Genoa in 2001, this is a film about a trip to the notorious Diaz school and a performance organized by a group of artists and by the students of a technical institute in Turin, twenty years after those events. From the words of the book emerge two forms of rage: that of a mother, who, without motivation or information witnesses her daughter being taken away by the police, and that of the young people who suffered the brutal violence. And there is the rage of everyone else, those inside and those outside, and the feelings of those who were present then and those – in their twenties today - who weren't yet born.

Gianni Ubaldo Canale
(Turin, 1966) participated in 1985 in an internship with Jean Rouch and began working in TV in 1989, first for the private broadcaster Videouno, and then making investigative reports broadcast on Italia Uno (Pronto Intervento) and Raidue (Mixer), and for Logos TV, coordinating, directing, and editing various documentaries about sports and history. In 2003, he was one of the founders of the home video production company Videoerre, with which he collaborated with Rai, making programs about Pirandello, Dario Fo, Garinei and Giovannini, La smorfia, Alberto Sordi… In 2011, he returned to directing self-produced documentaries such as Privilegi operai (2011) and, at the same time, editing series of DVDs dedicated to the history of TV and cinema, Pasolini, Visconti, groups such as the Pooh, and programs such as Drive In. Since 2018, he has been primarily involved in communicating and making content for social networks and online platforms.

“The void that was created after the suppression of the movements of twenty years ago, what has it led to? Have the incendiary and circumstantial bottles been reduced to an empty shell? In a Pirandellian form, our experiment was just that, to frequent these areas with the young people. In a Pasolinian form, we could only do so by observing them in their truth. And the beauty of the project was just this: they did it – they showed themselves in their truth.”
