Roberta Palmieri
(Chieti, 1994), studied at the DAMS of Bologna and at the Bottega Finzioni writing school; Dieci secondi is the first short film she has directed. She wrote the screenplay of Capitan Didier by Margherita Ferri, which received a special mention at the Nastri d’Argento awards, and the project La ragazza ciclope by Matteo De Liberato, which was selected in 2023 by the Unbox Short Film Days of Alice nella città. At the moment, she and Olga Sargenti are busy directing the animated short Ziki and writing various screenplays. She was also selected for the Becoming Maestre mentoring program promoted by Netflix Italia in collaboration with the David di Donatello awards: the program resulted in her mockumentary Goodbye Pig.

“This short comes from a personal and intimate need to recount a loss. Lisa realizes that the pillars she thought were indestructible can shatter, starting with her grandmother’s spaghetti alla chitarra with sauce. Right from the start, the father is only present through his voice which, as he calls out, already seems like a memory hidden behind an old camcorder. Taking inspiration from some family movies, I reconstructed a few personal moments, recreating my interaction with my father behind the video camera. When Lisa finds herself alone at the table at lunchtime, the emergency warnings of the earthquake on April 6, 2009 can barely be heard. Choosing Abruzzo as the setting for this small story was fundamental to expressing what the people of that region experienced, losing everything they had in just a few seconds.”
