MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY
by Lewis Milestone, Carol Reed, George Seaton
In 1787, the British ship Bounty sets sail from England for Tahiti under the command of Captain William Bligh. During the journey, fed up with the brutal living conditions and Bligh’s despotism, the crew mutinies, led by first officer Fletcher Christian (Brando). The ship finds refuge on the island of Pitcairn but the mutineers begin to fight among themselves, above all out of fear of being betrayed by Fletcher, and some of them set the ship on fire, killing their leader… A famous remake of Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), which in turn was based on one of the most famous episodes of English naval history, the movie is dominated by Brando, who had the director replaced (Milestone instead of Carol Reed, then followed by Cart Seaton) and changed the script to highlight his character’s tragic bravery.
