by Marielle Heller
Country: USA
Year: 2024
Duration: 98'

Having become a mother, a former artist has moved to the suburbs, where she takes care of her son and waits for her husband to come home from work. Exhausted by the fatigue and loneliness, she begins to seek something different outside her home, gradually feeling something primal and wild emerging within her. What if her true nature is increasingly resembling that of an animal? Amy Adams is stunning in this ironic, devastating reflection on motherhood.

Declaration

film director

“We don’t really talk about becoming a parent as the coming of age that it is. It’s a major identity shift. For me, I felt so completely changed on a cellular level. I didn’t recognize myself when I looked in the mirror or my marriage when my partner and I looked at each other. Everything transitioned in this major way that I felt like, ‘Why does nobody talk about this shift in identity that happens when you become a parent?’”
