László Benedek
(Budapest, Hungary 1905-New York 1992), director, screenwriter, producer, and film editor, entered the world of film at a young age, working in Hungary and Germany, and later fleeting to the United States in the early 1940s, since his family was Jewish. After Louis B. Mayer helped him flee, he established himself in Hollywood and debuted as a director in 1944, albeit without being credited, with Song of Russia. After receiving a Golden Globe for best directing in 1952 with the film version of Death of a Salesman (1951) and after the big success of The Wild One (1953), he occasionally returned to Europe, working in Germany and France, and in the meantime continued working in the United States, above all directing episodes of famous TV series.
