In the years 1969 through 1974, the true story that chronicles how Marlon Brando (Billy Zane) plucked an obscure but idealistic Los Angeles architect Bernie Judge (Jon Heder) and convinced him that they could build the world’s first ecologically perfect retreat on a tiny and uninhabitable Tahitian island. It was Brando’s belief that this grand ecological experiment would inspire the world to a better, cleaner and more sustainable future. Seen through his interactions with Judge, local Tahitians and the fame that he both loathes and loves, Brando is an idiosyncratic, surprisingly vulnerable, and layered man, who desires nothing more than to live in paradise and in peace. Will his dream ever be realized?

Declaration
film director
“As a director and writer of Waltzing with Brando it was an honor and a pleasure to photograph the movie where the story actually took place, in French Polynesia, and work with the wonderful people there in Tahiti, Moorea and Tetiaroa where the actual events occurred. The story couldn’t be more relevant in my mind as it deals with one man’s prescient desire to bring awareness to and reverse the devastating effects of Global Climate change some 55 years ago. I believe the film also features a career best performance by Billy Zane as Marlon Brando who’s likeness and nuance of his physicality makes one soon forget they are not watching an actual Marlon Brando film! The film is truly a gift to cineastes throughout the world as well as to general audiences who will be both amused and amazed at this unique tribute to perhaps the greatest actor, activist, and enigma in cinema history.”
