Declaration

film director

“I consider myself Swedish, but with two immigrant parents from Iran, I also feel deeply Persian. That tension, being in between, is what draws me to stories about polarization. 175 is about people on opposite sides, both convinced they’re doing the right thing. But what happens when all sides begin to justify extreme actions? What happens when no one is fully innocent anymore? During his youth, my father fought for equality in Iran, but watched his revolution turn more oppressive than what came before. From him, I realized that even Western democracy is fragile, and that people will do bad things if they think it’s the only way to survive. This film asks: How far are we willing to go when we feel out of time? And what happens when we reach the edge of our ethics?”
