In a remote neighborhood on the outskirts of Rome, Ponte di Nona, Fabio is a “not-so-young” thirty-year-old, unemployed and bored with life, with a single obsession: garbage. After months spent unsuccessfully reporting the many illegal dumps scattered throughout his area, he has an idea - to pose as a reporter for the famous TV show La talpa ("the mole"). Together with a small crew, he shoots fake investigative reports, becoming the idol and the voice of angry citizens. Is it possible, then, to start a revolution in a city where everything seems immovable?

Declaration
film director
“As for the directorial choices, despite the limited time available due to the small budget, I tried to divide the structure into three main sections, following a principle of coherence with the story and aiming to highlight the characters’ distinctive traits as much as possible. I took inspiration from the famous quote by the well-known Roman gangster Massimo Carminati about Roman society. Carminati spoke of the ‘middle world,’ the ‘upper world,’ and the ‘lower world’ to describe the various layers of Roman society according to their social class. Indeed, in La Talpa, there are characters belonging to each of these categories.”
