Declaration
film director
“I live a few blocks from the Plaza that is overflown at the beginning of the film. Here, Argentinian, Bolivian, Paraguayan, Venezuelan, and Peruvian women come together. The coexistence is tense and unequal, and when I want to start writing a film whose protagonist is a Bolivian woman my age, I realize that I have no idea who my neighbors are. […] Making this film is an attempt to get closer to my neighbors, to try to find out who they are. The result is this: a police film with no policemen, and instead of a private detective, it has a migrant woman who escapes from her work to follow the clues. The film also wants to be a fantasy genre piece, but ultimately it is about addressing a social issue from the most human perspective possible.”
