ACHILLE VALDATA AWARD
The Achille Valdata Award for the Best Fim in the Feature Film Competition, assigned by a jury of TorinoSette readers (Federica Lemme, Cristina Fucilitti, Lorenzo Penna, Marco Tanzariello e Samuele Geymonat) goes to:
FUCKTOYS by Annapurna Sriram
Motivation: “For its ability to be emotionally powerful, visibly explosive e irreverent when facing the society of consumption”.
OCCHIALI DI GANDHI AWARD
The jury of the 15th edition of the award, composed by Loredana Arcidiacono, Alice Beltrame, Michele Fadda, Alban Hoxha, Angela Minelli, Elisabeth Silva, Tommaso Travaglio, Ettore Trisciuoglio, Melissa Camerlo, Dario Cambiano, Elisabetta Crovato, Sara Galignano, established by the “Sereno Regis” Study Center in Turin awarded to the film that best embodies the Gandhian vision of the world, confers the Occhiali di Gandhi Award ex aequo to:
COEXISTENCE, MY ASS! by Amber Fares and THE CLOWN OF GAZA by Abdulrahman Sabbah
Motivation: “For transforming humor into an act of resistance, capable of unveiling the contradictions of a conflict and illuminating the darkness of war with the simple and universal power of a smile. Coexistence, My Ass! and The Clown of Gaza testify that cinema can be a voice of truth and hope, celebrating the human dignity even in the most fragile places”.
The OdG jury assignes also a special mention to BOBÒ, directed by Pippo Delbono.
Motivation: “For the profoundly nonviolent act of active listening and being open to inner change. Bobò is an example of an encounter in which the one who needed care heals the one who saved him, in a creative and soothing reciprocity.
INTERFEDI AWARD
The Interfedi jury, established by the Waldensian Church and the Jewish Community of Turin, sponsored by the Interfedi Committee of the City of Turin, and composed of Chiara Levi (Jewish Community), Walter Nuzzo (Interfedi Committee) e Andrea Rotondaro (Waldensian Church), awards the 12th edition of the “Respect for minorities and secularism award” to:
BOBÒ by Pippo Delbono
Motivation: “It is a narrative of dignity and inclusion that, overcoming the society’s judgements, gives voice to those who have not had it, transforming invisibility into presence, exclusion into art, and suffering and marginalization into a testimony of humanity, resistance, and beauty”.
