Colorado, 1951. While his younger brother Tommy is fighting on the Korean front, Mike, a young man from a village in the Rocky Mountains, watches as his mother Louise grows increasingly detached from reality, trapped in the isolated, suffocating life her husband has imposed on her. When she disappears into the snow-covered wilderness in the dead of winter, Mike is forced to confront her absence. Only the arrival of Jimmy will help him find meaning in his world again, opening the way to a new understanding of himself.
