ANCORA È PRESTO

STILL TOO SOON
by Antonio Valerio Spera
Country: Italy
Year: 2026
Duration: 100'

Mauro is 78 years old and has never stopped chasing his dreams. After a life spent among sailboats, canoe exploits, Sahara expeditions, fishing, and solitary adventures, he prepares the journey he has cherished for years: a four-month motorhome trip across Europe to discover the north of the continent. While friends and family try to dissuade him, Mauro stubbornly continues to organize his departure, suspended between the memories of an extraordinary past and a daily life made of affections, rituals, and small solitudes. As the trip approaches, Mauro keeps looking forward, determined not to give up on this new dream of his—perhaps his last.

Declaration

film director

“Mauro is a man out of time, an eternal Peter Pan who has always shunned conventions, building through his passions an existence made of adventures, discoveries, and unflagging dreams. His gestures, the places he inhabits, the stories of the past, and the feats that still await him compose the portrait of a person who continues to seek new possibilities in the world, without letting himself be defined by his age. In a society dominated by the speed of communication and digital mediation, Mauro’s need to dream, experience things, and measure himself against his desires takes on a meaning that goes beyond his personal story. The account of his daily life thus becomes a ‘fairy tale of the real,’ suspended between irony and melancholy, bringing out the contradictions of the contemporary world and questioning the risk of losing certain values: direct contact with the world, curiosity, the capacity for wonder, and the ability to still imagine a future.”
