by Stephen Frears
Country: UK
Year: 2002
Duration: 97'

In London, Okwe, an illegal Nigerian immigrant, works as a taxi driver and night porter at a hotel, where Senay, a Turkish maid, also lives. When he finds a human heart in a guest room bathroom, he uncovers an underground organ trafficking ring: a healthy kidney can be worth 10,000 pounds and a British passport. The hotel manager discovers that Okwe is a doctor wanted in Nigeria, accused of killing his wife, while he and Senay dream of leaving England. In order to leave for New York, Senay agrees to sell a kidney to the criminal Juan. Okwe, however, devises a plan to spare her from this sacrifice, with the help of the prostitute Juliette, the Russian doorman Ivan, and the morgue attendant Guo Yi.
