New York. A French billionaire who wants to stop the production of a musical that makes fun of him is instantly smitten with one of the show’s singers. Determined to win her over, he pretends to be an actor and lands the role of the billionaire himself, but despite his efforts he fails to capture her heart. Jealous of the company’s male singer, he decides to take dancing lessons from Gene Kelly, singing lessons from Bing Crosby, and lessons in humor from Milton Berle, but in the end he is forced to reveal the truth to the girl. But will she believe him? A musical comedy in which Marilyn once again plays a stage singer and dancer, with Yves Montand as her leading man and Cukor directing with his typical grace.
