On the outskirts of Tampico, unemployed loner Miguel struggles financially to care for his dying mother, La Madre – a woman whose cruelty is inseparable from her love. When reports of an alien sighting begin circulating in the local news, Miguel uses his dying mother’s body to stage his own. What begins as a desperate act of exploitation quickly grows into an all-out hoax – a spectacle he can no longer control. As the town descends into hysteria and La Madre’s condition worsens, Miguel is forced to confront himself and what he’s made of his mother.

Declaration
film director
“In a city that has weathered cartel violence, aliens offer a collective mythology of protection and levity. It is a place where the intimate and the absurd coexist. This complexity allowed us to move between horror, dark comedy, science fiction, and drama while retaining the story’s emotional core: a relationship where care and cruelty feed into each other.”
