Alastair Cotton, a hopeful new arrival in South East suburban England, starts his new career as a public relations consultant by being asked to dress up in a chicken costume and hand out leaflets in the street for a local butcher's shop. Having retrieved his selfrespect through the discovery of method acting, Alastair's prospects improve when the butcher's opera-loving daughter takes a shine to him. However thrust deeper into matters of the flesh, Alastair learns as his wedding day approaches that life with the butcher's family could well exceed his wildest dreams and presents dangers he never expected.
