"Flipper is a young architect whose talent has contributed to the success of the firm for which he works, Mast & Covington. Son of an authoritarian and fiercely traditional minister he is living happily with his girlfriend, Drew, and his daughter, Ming. Angela Tucci is an Italo-American woman who, after the death of her mother has become the fulltime maid for her father and for her brothers, James and Charlie three selfish and vulgar men. Intelligent, sensitive, and a hard worker Angela succeeds in finding a job at Mast & Covington. There she meets Flipper and begins a love affair with him. But the two lovers soon encounter the strong prejudices and ostracism of both their families. Flipper gravely shaken by the violence that his love affair is provoking, eventually feels more and more unable to give Angela what she expects. The idyll crumbles as the days go by and the future appears more and more uncertain.
