LA MUJER DE BENJAMIN

Seventeenyear old Natividad is bored with her life at home and in her village. She spends her time between the tense relationship with her mother and a flirt with Leandro, and she dreams of traveling around the world. Benjamin, fiftyish and fat, is considered to be the village fool and lives under the heal of his sister Micaela. He is in love with Natividad and, incited by his friends, decides to kidnap her Benjamin keeps Natividad in his home hoping to seduce her. The girl adapts to the situation and plays cannily with the power she has over the devoted Benjamin and Micaela's secrets. As time goes on, Natividad dominates the life of the home and the store owned by the siblings. Leandro's sudden interference unleashes a violent episode that changes the image of Benjamin in the eyes of the villagers.

Carlos Carrera
Born in 1962, Carlos Carrera studied film at the Mexican Film Institute. His professional experience has lead him through drawing and illustrating as well as theatrical work. He has worked on Japanese-Mexican animation coproductions and directed a few short films among which Malayerba nunca muerde (1988), which garnered many awards in several festivals. La mujer de Beniamin is his first feature film.
