Jenny, a young woman, miraculously regains the use of speech during a religious service. She joins the congregation and falls in love with the minister, Paul. Sarah, Paul's wife, breaks out into a scene of jealousy and causes Jenny to leave the congregation. She goes off, joins another evangelical group, and becomes their leader. Sarah finds out that Jenny's cure is the result of a trick and publicly accuses Jenny of fraud during a religious meeting. The crowded congregation is enraged. They destroy the big tent, killing Sarah. Jenny is convulsed by what has just happened. She runs into a farmwoman carrying her little crippled son in her arms. The woman asks her to cure him. This time a miracle really happens.
