Johann is a student of the Tolzbad ButIer Gymnasium, a school which is presided over by a sadist. Johann is engaged to Klara Trotta, his childhood sweetheart. One day his sunny existence is darked when he has an incestuous dream about Zenaida, his mother Johann develops an unhealthy obsession with the beautiful matriarch. In the meanwhile Zenaida has fallen in love with the reclusive, yet dashing, Count Knotgers. Johann's brother, Griggors, a recent graduate of the Tolzbad ButIer Gymnasium is also in love with Klara. But Klara is not easily wooded. She has an unhealthy attraction to her own father. Complicating matters further is the fact that Griggors has an older brother, Franz, a cripple who is mysteriously locked away in the family attic. Franz receives visits from the Blind Ghost of his long-dead father. The Blind Ghost attempts to warn his family of impending doom.
