DAS TRIPAS CORAÇÃO

TWIN FLAMES
by Joaquim Pinto
Country: Portugal
Year: 1992
Duration: 72'

At the age of 20, two readheaded twins named Armando and Beatriz fulfill a dream: they become firefighters. But a rainy winter keeps them in a virtual state of inactivity. In the limited exercise of their functions, Armando comes to the aid of a pretty neighbor, who has forgotten her keys. When he speaks about her to his twin sister, Armando blows up the nascent friendship into a hot and heavy romance. Suddenly, Beatriz begins to suffer from strange hallucinations... she hearts the crackling sound of flames, etc. To defend herself against the roar of these imaginary conflagrations, she buys herself a walkman, which only distances her from her brother. One day, she accidently comes across a remedy for her ills. All she has to do is have someone the first passerby will do kiss her for the incendiary noises to die away immediately. Beatriz begins flitting from one man to another, preferably picking up tourists whom she's unlikely to meet again. During one particularly bad attack, she creates a scene with the pretty neighbor, ruining the relationship between the girl and her brother. Armando refuses to forgive his sister… until their birthday which Armando has to celebrate without her...
