Metin is in his midtwenties and has made Berlin his home. He travels to his native village in east Anatolia and is greeted by his mother who is well but exhausted. She is in the midst of preparations for a wedding: his own! Metin soon realizes that this is really to be his wedding and that the telegram from his father the reason for his journey back was merely a pretext. After all, the groom must be present at his own wedding at least this was what Metin's father decided. Metin's father, the bride's parents and the entire village community are not to be detracted from their intention. Metin must marry the bride to whom he has long been promised, even though he does not know her and is already engaged to a girl in Berlin whom he really loves. And so the awful events take their bloody course. The wedding takes place but there is a funeral, too.

Ismet Elci
Ismet Elci was born in Mus, East Turkey, in 1964. He has been living in Berlin since 1979. Small parts in plays and films lead to the production of two no-budget productions (Das letze rendezvous and Kismet, Kismet, both 1986). Besides his work on screenplays. he has also published several stories. His first volume was the source for the three-part television film Sinan ohneland (1987. directed by Jasmin and Ismet Akay).
