Head is the filmic extension of the spirit of nonsense of the rock group The Monkees. Musical numbers such as a rock and roll dance done in San Francisco Bay alternate with stock footage or newsreel images of the carnage in Vietnam, or of characters like Bela Lugosi, Charles Laughton, Rita Hayworth and Ronald Reagan. There are skits such as the one in which T.C. Jones mocks a waitress in the manner of Bette Davis.
