This is an appointment with an emotion that was taken in and a feeling that was lived when we saw Gianni Amelio working on the set of Il ladro di bambini. But it is also a dedication, a declaration of affection, and a recognition. We were struck by the reiteration of his many thoughtgestures, his anxieties, and his silence which, at the end, produced and created that thrilling film. We used the pretext of the opening lines of one of the Emperor Hadrian's lyrics, in which he looks at the countryside of Baia and asks where his poor soul may be going. Gianni Amelio is a "humandirector" who is continually asking where his soul is going, and what purpose his camera has. This is what we wanted to tell. (Isa Sandri, Giuseppe M. Gaudino)

Giuseppe Gaudino
Giuseppe Gaudino (Pozzuoli, 1957) graduated in Production Design at the Art Academy in Naples and Film Directing at the Centro Sperimentale in Rome. In 1983 he had his debut with documentary Antrodoco, una storia per due battaglie. In 1992 he made Joannis Amaelii, anima vagula e blandula, backstage of Il ladro di bambini by Gianni Amelio. Giro di lune tra terra e mare from 1997 is his first feature film, in Competition in Venice. In 2002 he makes documentary O' Ciuna, and in 2003 Materiali a Confronto, screened in Venice.
