For many centuries elopement in the Middle East has been the only alternative for women who object to pre arranged marriage. If the woman is caught while eloping, she is either brought back home, or killed on the spot by members of her community. The film offers an insight into the fate of women who try to defy authority and marry the men of their choice.

Hanna Elias
Hanna Elias was born in 1957 in northern Israel to Palestinian family. He graduated in sociology and history at the Hebrew University (Israel). He attended UCLA Film School. The Mountain appeared in many festivals, won many awards, and met international acclaim.
