Silvio Soldini
Silvio Soldini (Milan, 1958) moved to New York in 1980, where he studied film at NYU. He returned to Milan in 1982, where his first film, Drimage, won the Gaumont award at the "Film-maker" film series. He began to work with the director of photography, Luca Bigazzi, with whom he made Paesaggio con figure. This film appeared in several festivals and won warm critical reviews. In 1984 he founded Bilicofilm, the company that produced Giulia in ottobre, 1984. This film was made possible through the participation of actors and technicians and through a grant given by "Film-maker". It participated in the Berlin festival and in the Preview for Independent Film of Bellaria. It won the C.I.C.A.E. award at the Annecy Festival. His last two feature films - L'aria serena dell'ovest and Un'anima divisa in due - have earned him critical and public attention
