12° FESTIVAL INTERNAZIONALE CINEMA GIOVANI
Italian Competition 1994 - Fiction
Incubi fallici
by Franco Rea, Leonardo Prizzi
The protagonist of Phallic Nightmares is a solitary man who is wandering around a Roman park. He finds an erotic comic book. When he hides in order to read it, he gets excited and materializes the comic books character, Zora, who is a vampire stricken with a nightmare and wants to be treated by Sigmund Freud. In the protagonist's imagination, Zora is identified with a young man who Iikes to cross dress. The trip inside the comic book comes to an end when the protagonist has finished satisfying his momentary excitation and again begins to see the comic book for what it is - a piece of garbage. At the end the man joins in a dance with the young man/Zora and here the filmic fiction unmasks itself and co-exists with reality.
