Ake Sasaki

Ake Sasaki, born in Japan (41511959) studied Criminal Law at University in Tokyo while making films as a hobby. After he won the Foreign Commendation Prize in Young Jump Film Festival, with his short films (the judges included Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Joe Dante), he started directing pop promos for JVC, Toshiba-EMI, for Life and other Japanese record labels. Ake was also assigned to take charge of a drama mini-series in a video disc magazine produced by JVC. At NFTS, Ake directed two fiction films, while watching Star Trek: the Next Generation every afternoon in the School Library as a daily ritual. He is now thinking of making a film about a tomato.
