Liberté, la nuit

Liberty at night
by Philippe Garrel
Country: France
Year: 1983
Duration: 80'

"To a certain extent, Mouche and Jean represent my father and mother, who met at the end of the Second World War. The family of the puppeteers is that of my godfather, Alain Recoing... I moved to events to the period of the Algerian war to pay homage to that distinguished minority of artists and intellectuals (there are doubtlessly other categories, but I'm talking about the environment that I know) that rise up against injustice." (Interview by Thomas Lescure, in Une caméra à la place du coeur, Editions Admirandalnstitut de l'Image, Aixen Provence 1992).
